Our reason for starting Kansas City Mushroom Company is to create and cultivate a diverse collection of edible mushrooms and make them widely available in the Kansas City region. Mushrooms hold health benefiting characteristics, unique to each individual type of mushroom. We believe that by incorporating a variety of the most tasty mushrooms into our diets, we can receive these health benefits not through medicine or a pill but rather the food we eat at home.
Our mission
We're on a mission to change the way the produce market works. Currently mush of the produce that gets into your kitchen is grown out of market, harvested way too early, and unless it's certified organic has been sprayed with harsh chemicals and artificial fertilizers. We hope over the next decade we can set a precedent that not only can food be grown locally but widely available for consumption.
Our vision
We want to live in a world where people not only can buy locally grown mushrooms at their nearby farmers market, but also in the grocery store nearest their home. A world where healthy mushrooms are improving the wellbeing of Kansas City communities is a world we want to help cultivate.
